Supporting Small, Supporting Local

Ten years ago, I sat in a University of Dayton classroom trying my best to avoid thinking too far ahead — what would I be doing just two years after graduation? Like most college seniors, I attended every spring and fall career fair I could. It came as no surprise that I was drawn to the large companies and national conglomerates, envisioning myself starting somewhere small within a big organization and working my way up to leadership over time.

Never in my imagination did I think that, eight short years later, I’d be given a completely different kind of opportunity — one that would test not only my professional abilities but my character and drive. To be honest, I wasn’t fully ready for it at the time. But I was willing to learn, to grow, and to help build something meaningful.

This time, though, the opportunity wasn’t with a corporate giant. It was with a small, family-run business — one that I would soon not only work for but become personally invested in. It wasn’t just a job; it was a calling to be part of something real, something local, and something I could help shape with my own two hands.

After some prayerful reflection and a leap of faith, I joined Fabcor — and I’ve never looked back. The transition from the structured rhythm of a large organization to the all-hands-on-deck nature of a small business was eye-opening. In the corporate world, you can sometimes blend into the system; in a small business, you are the system. Every decision matters, every deadline counts, and every customer relationship carries real weight.

Over the years, I’ve learned what it truly means to “Make It Happen.” At Fabcor, that phrase isn’t just a tagline — it’s a way of life. It means staying late to ensure a customer’s project ships on time. It means finding creative solutions when resources are tight. It means knowing that the parts we fabricate aren’t just metal — they represent trust, partnership, and livelihood.

In a family business, success is personal. When we deliver for our customers, it’s more than just a job well done — it’s putting food on the table, supporting our employees and their families, and fueling the local economy that supports us in return. Every weld, every laser cut, and every machined part carries the pride of our people and the purpose of our community.

That’s the beauty of small business — it’s human. It’s driven by people who care about their craft and about one another. It’s about relationships that last, promises that matter, and a work ethic that can’t be mass-produced.

At Fabcor, we’ve built our reputation by combining small business heart with big business capability. We may not have thousands of employees, but what we do have is a team of dedicated individuals who show up every day ready to innovate, create, and deliver excellence.

Supporting small means more than choosing local — it means believing in the people who make it happen. And at Fabcor, that’s exactly what we’ll keep doing: working hard, staying humble, and building a legacy that lasts.

Fabcor, Built on Legacy. Driven by Innovation. Powered by People. We Make It Happen.
